Two types:

  • LAP-BAND?

  • Realize BandTM

This is the least invasive, most reversible surgical option.

In this procedure, a restrictive band is placed around the upper part of the stomach so a patient feels full after just a few bites of food. The doctor can control the amount of food that passes through by increasing or decreasing the size of the band— according to each patient’s individual weight-loss needs.

• The band can be removed if complications arise.
• In 97% of cases, the procedure is done laparoscopically on an outpatient
  basis.
• Results in an average of a 75% weight reduction in three years.
• Lap-Band approved by the Food and Drug Administration in 2001, Realize
  Band approved in 2007.
• People who have this procedure can usually return home the same day of the
  surgery or the next morning.
